How To Create & Use Assignments

Learn how to create, assign, and track Quizgecko Assignments to support learners and monitor their progress with ease.

Updated yesterday

If you’d like to use Quizgecko to support your learners and assess their progress— whether you’re a teacher working with students or leading training within your organization — you can just need to create an Assignment.

What is an Assignment?

When you generate using Quizgecko, you create a Lesson, which includes a quiz, flashcards, study notes, and a podcast. If you want to share one or more elements of the Lesson with others and track their performance, then you'll need to create an Assignment.

Assignments can be created on our web platform. The learners you share your Assignment with don't need to be registered with Quizgecko to respond, although we do recommend that they sign up for a free account if they'd like to track their response history.

Note: If you wish to share the AI podcast with your learners, they will need to be registered for a free account to listen. Please ensure that the podcast has generated by clicking 'Play' on the Lesson page before creating the Assignment.

How to Create an Assignment:

Once you’re logged in, you'll need to create a Lesson. Once that's been generated, you'll need to view the Lesson page you'd like your learners to take, click ‘Share’.

Then select ‘Create an Assignment’.

Note: If your visibility settings are set to private, you can still share your Lesson with those you choose to invite in an Assignment.

Setting Up Your Assignment

Next, you can choose whether you want to assign just the Quiz or elements of the Entire Lesson.

Assigning an Entire Lesson

General Settings

  • Assignment due date — You can choose to set a deadline your learners to complete the assignment. The time is based on your local time.

  • Instructions — The assignment title and instructions will be pre-filled with the title and description from your lesson. You can adjust these specifically for the Assignment e.g. ‘Class 10: Marie Curie quiz’ for the title. For the instructions, you could choose to add a learning objective or greeting.

  • Participant identification — Learners don’t need a Quizgecko account to play an Assignment, although we would recommend that they set up a free account to be able to check their Assignment history.

Here you can choose how you wish your respondents to identify themselves through:

    • Require name — Ask participants to enter a name (or nickname) before starting the Assignment.

    • Require email — Ask participants to enter their email before starting the Assignment.

Note: If you don't require a name or an email, the participant will be sent directly to the Lesson page or quiz, depending on what type of Assignment you are sharing. Their entry will be labelled as 'Anonymous' in your Assignment report.

  • Play modes — Select which Lesson play modes you want to your learners. You can choose to share the:

    • Quiz — Participants will be able to play quiz to assess their knowledge.

    • Flashcards — Participants will be able to study flashcards to reinforce key concepts

    • Spaced Repetition Flashcards (limited to Organization plans) — Participants will be able to play Spaced Repetition to retain information more effectively.

    • Chat to Lesson (limited to Organization plans) — Participants will be able to Chat to Lesson to ask questions and dive deeper into the lesson.

  • Lesson page display — Select which elements you want to display on the lesson you share. You can choose to display:

    • Podcast — Participants will be able to access the podcast.

    • Question and answers — Participants will be able to view both the questions and their corresponding answers.

    • Flashcards — Participants will be able to view flashcards with both terms and their definitions.

    • Study notes — Participants will be able to review summarized notes.

    • Related uploads — Participants will have access to PDFs or images linked to the Lesson. These are documents you would have uploaded to generate the Lesson.

  • Advanced settings — These are additional options that allow you to customise the Assignment experience even further.

In the Quiz Behavior you can choose to:

    • Prevent multiple attempts — Prevent students from retaking the quiz after completing it, allowing only one attempt.

    • Shuffle questions — Randomize the order of questions every time the quiz is taken.

    • Hide correct answer — Hide the correct answer after each question. The participant will move directly to the next question.

    • Hide final report — After they have completed the quiz, hide report with correct and incorrect answers.

In the Quiz Settings you can:

  • Pass mark — Each question in a quiz is automatically marked, but you can also set an overall pass mark as a percentage.

  • Quiz time limit — The overall time the respondents have to complete the quiz.

  • Question time limit — A set time limit to answer each individual question.
